Jaison VanHorn, President
Jaison couldn’t be more proud to be president of a company developed to put clients at ease during the challenging process of building their outdoor creations. He is an extremely creative and a motivated individual. Steel Oak is the second company that he has developed in Raleigh, NC. Jaison is also the owner of VanHorn Design which was built from scratch in 2011, and is now a household name throughout the triangle for high-end outdoor design. Once presented with their designs, clients of VanHorn Design found themselves needing help bringing the vision to life.
Homeowners found themselves feeling overwhelmed and needed a single point of contact who knew the project well and could ensure that the installation was exactly as the design intended. As a result, Steel Oak was developed.
Jaison pursued his love for the outdoors and construction at the Pennsylvania State University and graduated with a Bachelors in Landscape Contracting, Design/Build. After graduation, Jaison worked with one of the leading landscape contractors in Pittsburgh, PA, Eichenlaub Inc. There, he worked as a foreman installing all aspects of outdoor landscapes, from hardscapes to plantings, carpentry to irrigation. Learning much in the field while maintaining his love of creativity, he subsequently became Eichenlaub’s head designer at the age of 23.
A few years later, he and his now wife moved to Raleigh, NC where he started VanHorn Design. Not knowing a soul in the area, Jaison reached out to as many contractors he could hoping to excite their clientele with innovative 3D design. Almost 10 years later, VanHorn Design still works with many of those contractors that gave VHD its start.
Next on the list of Jaison’s dreams is to build a company where clients can feel at ease while creating outdoor environments that they can enjoy with friends and family for many, many years to come. “That’s why we say ‘Confidence in Creation”.
Jack Fowler, Lead Project Consultant
Jack is a very disciplined and detail-oriented individual. He pursued his passion for the outdoors by excelling in the Landscape Contracting, Design/Build program at Pennsylvania State University where he graduated distinguished in his class.
